DAY 01 BKI-KINABALU PARK

Depart by 0800 hrs from your hotel for a 02hrs drive into the Crocker Range. Enjoy superb mountain views as you travel to the Kinabalu Park at about 1,500m. Check into your accommodation and after lunch we shall explore one of the many trails that lead through the tropical Mountain Oak and Chestnut Forest.

Kinabalu is a botanist's paradise with over a thousand species of Orchids, numerous different Rhododendrons and Pitcher Plants. The bird life is equally fascinating with most species being montane, inclusive a number of endemic. Stay overnight at Kinabalu Pine Resort. (Lunch/Dinner)

DAY 02 KINABALU PARK - PORING HOT SPRING - KINABALU PARK

Breakfast. Pick up at 0930am and proceed to Poring Hotsprings, Lowland Dipterocarp Forest makes most of the vegetation at Poring and it is an excellent place to view lowland birds and some mammals. A short trek to the canopy walkway for a bird's eye view of the Tropical Rainforest.

The Canopy Walkway is suspended between trees at a height of 40m and offers an excellent opportunity to observe wildlife in the canopy. At Poring Centre, you will have a chance to soak yourselves in the hot sulphur waters renowned for its therapeutic properties. At 1430hrs, track back to resort and overnight. We will give Kinabalu Pine Resort or similar. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)

DAY 03 KINABALU PARK - SANDAKAN

Breakfast. Free at leisure until your departure transfer at 0900hrs overland for 05-06hrs to Sandakan. Upon arrive & check in to hotel (Breakfast/Lunch)

DAY 04 SELINGAN ISLAND

Breakfast. Pick up at 0900hrs from your hotel. Transfer to jetty for Selingan Island & boat departs at 0930hrs, hop in the speed for 02hrs ride to Selingan Island. Check-in upon arrival. Free at leisure or swimming, sunbathing or snorkeling. Dinner will serve at island cafeteria at 1930hrs. In the night at 2200hrs (early or late than the expected hours), wait for the famous green turtles to come ashore to lay eggs. Overnight in simple chalet. (Share bathroom) (Lunch/Dinner)

DAY 05 SELINGAN ISLAND-SEPILOK-GOMANTONG CAVE-KINABATANG RIVER

Breakfast. Depart for Sandakan Jetty at 0700hrs boat. Pick up from Sandakan Jetty, depart for Sepilok Orang Utan Sanctuary & visit the Orang Utans, which have been orphaned, illegally capture and injured being rehabilitated to be sent back to the wild. Lunch (simple local lunch). Overland transfer to Kinabatangan River where the sukau village situated. Passing through scenic countryside, local villages and plantation. Visit Gomantong Caves famous for the Chinese delicay-bird nest. Upon arrival, check-in the Lodge along the Kinabatangan River bank. The lower reach of Kinabatangan River has the greatest concentration of wildlife in Borneo. The most famous creature of all is guaranteed to be sighted is undoubtedly the bizarre Proboscis Monkeys. Late afternoon, river cruise to search for the Proboscis Monkeys. Overnight at Lodge (no air-condition) (Lunch/Dinner).

DAY 06 OX BOW LAKE - AIRPORT

Wake up to the sound of Borneo. As the birds are most active at this time, take another boat trip, this time to the Ox-Bow Lakes, pick up time at 0600hrs for 01 hours half tours. The many dramatic and beautiful birds in the Kinabatangen region that may be sighted include the elegant egrets, several species of kingfishers, the oriental darter which dives underwater to catch its prey, swift and vividly coloured Bee-eaters and hornbills. At 0830hrs after the lodge breakfast, we travel overland to Sandakan airport for our flight out to BKI or homeland. Tour Ends. (Breakfast)

• Items to bring for Sabah Wildlife Trail: Sweater, hat, raincoat, good walking shoes, long sleeve shirt, T-shirt, long trousers, shorts, torchlight, insect repellent, camera with fast film and sunglasses.
• Certain portions of the overland journey from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan, approximately a stretch of 56km is on unsealed road, certain amount of discomfort should be expected.
